What I do w/detecting finds
 

I found this site by my interest in PMs found from metal detecting. I usually hunt in the water where silver takes a beating in some lakes so I send it it in have it melted for rounds. I just got these back a few days ago and thought I would share them. I have only melted down a few gold pieces before which were mostly unmarked low karat junk or spindly earings and such. Next I'll start buying PMs with the clad since it has no value anyway.

welcome to GIM. what refiner or mint is creating these bars for you? they look nice. 1 oz I presume.

I send the scrap to Midwest refineries but the 1oz bars are from Northwest Territory Mint. To date I've recieved 41 oz. not too bad for nothing but enjoying a hobby.

Sounds great!! Your photo isn't working for me, is anyone else getting it?

I've been wanting to get into prospecting for a couple of years but haven't taken the plunge. Does your detector work in the water?
